Economically Successful Cities attract Creative People

Around the world today, policy makers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of cities and regions to the economic development of nations. While we’ve never been more global, cities and regions must have the right ingredient to make things happen – a critical mass of creative people interacting on a face-to-face level.

Accelerate Cape Town will provide this platform to shape the future of the Cape towards becoming a global capital of Creativity and Innovation.

According to Richard Florida, places with the brightest futures are creative and innovative cities, they become the places where creative people want to live and work.  Instead of people moving to jobs, companies are increasingly moving to or forming in places that have the skilled innovative thinkers/workers already there. His message is that economically successful cities are those that attract creative people. The boom towns of the 21st century, he says, possess the three T’s – tolerance, talent and technology.
