It is my pleasure to update you on current Accelerate Cape Town initiatives in this edition of the Southern Tiger.
We look at progress made in our undertaking to lobby for more “air access” for routes to and from the Cape. Accelerate Cape Town is part of an Air Access Task team that incorporates: the Department of Economic Development & Tourism, Wesgro, Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA), Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU), the City of Cape Town, South African Oil and Gas Alliance (SAGOA),Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa(FEDHASA) and representatives from the Tourism Growth sub-committee.
A lot of work has gone into moving ahead the projects that Accelerate Cape Town has identified, read more about our involvement with the CTICC around the development of the International Business Club to ensure that we make the most of the 2010 visitor opportunities.
I will be chairing and speaking at the third Annual Location Branding conference in Athens later this month, some of the issues we will look at are why business is an important component in how a city or region brands itself.
Accelerate Cape Town is also participating in the International Marketing Council efforts to align the different South African provinces brands with the national brand.
As you read this, I will be on my way back from the USA where I had travelled with the Homecoming Revolution, to encourage South Africans who have resettled in America to return. More about this in the next edition.
We are pleased to announce that The Close Services Fund has become our newest member, bringing our total membership to date to 24.
Enjoy this edition of the Southern Tiger.
All the best
